Dancing Arabian Style Costumes The Dancing Arabian saddle patter in based on the Historical Native Tree 2 style costume. This is the warrior's saddle with high pommel and cantle. Dancing Arabian tack evolved out of this heritage and is now a very specific tack set type. Dancing Arabian with Metal Studs There are over 200 metal studs (most hand made) on this costume. Needless to say it took quite a while to glue them all into place. Huckleberry Bey isn't exactly right for this costume, but Breyer and Stone haven't made the perfect Dancing Arabian yet. As a rule, I show original finish models. But I may have to make an exception if I pal on every getting this tack into the show ring. Maybe I'll just sculpt myself something (yeah, right!) Construction for the native halter with the noseband charms is covered in the book as an advanced option.
Dancing Arabian Prototype 2 This is another embroidered panel. this time made from velveteen. Velvet is not pleasant to work with for this scale as the nap is much too large. Velveteen or suede cloth are suitable substitutes as these have a nap, but one that is more in line with the 1:9 scale. This one is not that much different from the first prototype, except for some construction adjustments on the bridle and breastcollar. It also has the prototype for the halter used by these dancers.
Dancing Arabian Prototype 1 My very fist Dancing Arabian costume. The panel is machine embroidered. The breastcollar is hand woven with beads (I'll show that procedure in the book). The studs on the bridle and breastcollar are handmade from pie tin metal. The tassel edging around the back of the panel is a wonderful found yarn that looks like in scale fringe. Three layers cut to length around the back gives a nice full effect that was much easier than laying down single strands of embroidery floss or making 200 three strand tassels!!
